Commercial Finance Accountant

Join us as a Commercial Finance Accountant, where you’ll support our practice owners and internal teams with highquality financial expertise that underpins growth, sustainability and great decisionmaking.

Sitting within our Regional & Strategic Finance team, you’ll play a key role in providing businesscritical support, financial modelling and analysis around new practice openings, extensions, relocations and practice ashare sales, helping our practice owners plan and supporting the continued success of our veterinary estate.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Own and efficiently resolve financial queries from RFMs, BDPs and Practice Owners within agreed SLAs.
  • Carry out periodic practice reviews, providing clear financial discussion points and insights.
  • Attend regional meetings and provide financial support to internal stakeholders and partners.
  • Analyse practice performance, identifying risks, opportunities and clear routes to improvement.
  • Produce detailed business plans for new and existing practices, including relocations, extensions and ownership changes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business to ensure revenue and cost forecasts are accurate and up to date.
  • Support practice succession planning through robust ashare business plans and financial modelling.
  • Work with the Treasury team on bank loan options and funding recommendations.
  • Review practice surplus cash positions and propose strategic bank and partner loan repayments.
  • Support interim and yearend dividend recommendations.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors on practice valuations, ensuring they have accurate and timely financial information.
  • Support the annual budgeting cycle, including data collation, loading and testing.
  • Analyse revenue and cost trends to challenge assumptions and support ongoing model development.
  • Identify opportunities to refine modelling processes and improve efficiency.
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, tracking progress and maintaining strong communication with all stakeholders.

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you bring: 

  • Strong Excel skills and confidence across Microsoft Office
  • The ability to explain financial concepts clearly to nonfinance colleagues
  • Experience in financial modelling or commercial analysis (desirable)
  • Confidence thriving in a fastpaced environment with multiple deadlines
  • Experience in franchise or practiceowner models (beneficial)
  • SAP knowledge (helpful but not essential)
