Equipment Lead
Handforth, CHE, SK9 3RN
Location: We welcome applications from those looking for hybrid working, based 2 days (Monday & Friday) per week in our Handforth (Cheshire) Office.
Travel: There may be times when you will need to travel to our Pet Care Centres.
About the Role
Are you highly organised, confident working at pace, and great at bringing clarity to complex tasks? We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑driven individual to support our Equipment Manager in delivering our Development Programme and coordinating Trading initiatives that rely on equipment, installation, and external services.
In this role, you’ll be a key point of contact for teams across Facilities, Trading, and Merchandising—responding to queries, managing multiple stakeholders, and ensuring all business‑as‑usual activity is handled accurately and efficiently. You must be able to confidently manipulate data in Excel, including advanced VLOOKUPs and pivot tables; experience with Microsoft Access is a bonus but not essential. If you’re comfortable working independently, making informed decisions, and maintaining exceptional accuracy at pace, this could be the perfect next step for you
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with colleagues, suppliers, and installers to produce accurate, timely costings for space‑planning projects, from refits to range reviews.
- Ensure all costings fully reflect required inputs before submission for budgeting.
- Build strong supplier relationships and maintain high service levels.
- Hold regular project updates to ensure progress stays on track.
- Validate supplier information to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor and control spend across all budgets, providing clear visibility of financial position.
- Provide timely updates on spend and unforeseen costs to support informed decision‑making.
- Communicate effectively with store teams and colleagues, providing clear project briefs where needed.
- Manage the process for DC equipment deliveries to stores.
- Coordinate with onsite contractors and suppliers to minimise disruption during project delivery.
- Ensure projects are completed with minimal snags and resolve any issues promptly.
- Oversee the design process for new equipment with the VM team, ensuring solutions are cost‑effective, durable, and sustainable.
- Maintain the equipment database, catalogue, and back‑office systems with up‑to‑date information.
- Create SAP articles to enable DC ordering.
- Respond promptly to equipment‑related queries (e.g., freezers, scales), supporting Facilities KPIs.
- Issue annual SARI reports and ensure all checks are completed as required.
- Process store equipment orders in line with agreed budgets.
About You – What you’ll bring to the role
You’ll thrive in this role if you bring strong Microsoft Excel skills, exceptional organisation, and the confidence to communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll be comfortable working at pace, juggling multiple priorities, and maintaining a high level of accuracy — even when dealing with the smallest of details. Flexibility is key, and you’ll be happy to travel to different pet care centres when needed (with driving being an advantage). If you’re someone who takes pride in getting things right, enjoys variety, and can keep projects moving smoothly, we’d love to hear from you.
We take our inspiration from pets in embracing people from all walks of life, and we value, respect and celebrate difference.
