About the Role

As an eCommerce Trading Specialist, you’ll own the digital sales performance of your category, shaping and executing the online strategy in partnership with Buying, Finance, Marketing and Optimisation teams. You'll lead the commercial and content planning for your departments, ensuring trading decisions are data‑driven, customer‑focused, and aligned to wider business priorities.

You’ll be responsible for delivering a seamless onsite experience—optimising the customer journey, enhancing search and navigation, and ensuring product content, taxonomy and PDPs meet best‑in‑class standards. With a strong understanding of digital behaviour and market trends, you’ll continually benchmark performance, identify risks and opportunities, and drive initiatives that maximise sales, margin and conversion.

In this role, you’ll set targets, shape forecasts, and provide clear weekly trading updates and insights that influence cross‑functional decision‑making. You will also lead and develop a high‑performing team, building capability across analytics, trading and customer experience, while promoting a positive, collaborative culture that reflects our Pets at Home values.

Key Responsibilities – What you’ll be doing

  • Lead sales planning, including top‑line targets, reforecasts and KPI setting.
  • Own the commercial calendar, maximising seasonal moments, trends, launches and promotions.
  • Shape onsite content plans in partnership with the Campaigns Manager and Marketing.
  • Ensure all trading and content activity is consumer‑focused and aligned to marketing priorities.
  • Use digital customer insights to shape online assortment and category strategy.
  • Track market trends and competitor activity to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with Buying, Marketing, Optimisation and Own Brand teams to bring category plans to life.
  • Drive initiatives that maximise sales, margin and overall category performance.
  • Provide weekly trading updates and action plans to key stakeholders.
  • Use analytics tools to understand and optimise the full customer journey.
  • Improve onsite navigation, taxonomy, filters and facets to drive conversion.
  • Deliver a best‑in‑class PDP experience, ensuring accurate, compelling product content.
  • Build team capability in understanding the purchase funnel and page performance.
  • Shape and support the search strategy alongside the Optimisation team.
  • Drive product recommendations, cross‑sell and impulse strategies.
  • Champion test‑and‑learn initiatives to boost category results.
  • Partner with UX and Product Managers to enhance site features and functionality.
  • Work with third‑party search and merchandising tools to improve PLP to PDP and search conversion.
  • Collaborate with Buying, Merchandising and Finance on weekly category and brand plans.

About You – What you’ll bring to the role

  • 4 years+ experience in eCommerce or Digital Trading
  • Experience working in medium/large online business required but experience in pet supplies is not required.
  • Skilled using key Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint) and insights tools such as Google Analytics and Power BI.
  • Experienced in various analytics tools: Content Square, Google Analytics preferable
  • A strong team leader is a must, with some management experience, 1 year +
  • A dynamic person, who finds solutions and can drive key initiatives forward in a matrix style organisation.
  • Experience partnering with key stakeholders and holding good relationships.
