Shift Pattern – Mon – Fri, 08.00-16.00 - flexibility required as and when required

To make this happen, our Distribution Centres rely on safe, reliable and well‑maintained engineering operations. We’re now looking for a Production Support & Inventory Engineer to join our Engineering team and play a key role in supporting equipment uptime, spare parts availability, and the development of our engineers.
The Role
This is a varied, hands‑on engineering support role that sits at the heart of our Distribution Centre operation.
You’ll take ownership of the engineering storeroom and spare parts inventory, ensuring the right parts are available, well‑managed and compliant with site standards. Alongside this, you’ll provide practical support to the engineering team during breakdowns and repairs, while also playing an important role in onboarding and developing new Engineers joining the site.
Balancing technical knowledge with organisation, collaboration and continuous improvement, you’ll be a vital link between engineering operations and effective stock and asset management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the engineering storeroom, ensuring it is clean, organised, clearly labelled, and compliant with site standards.
- Control stock levels for engineering spare parts and consumables, maintaining appropriate safety stock.
- Raise purchase orders for replacement parts and consumables in line with procurement procedures.
- Monitor stock usage trends and optimise reorder quantities and critical spares.
- Maintain accurate records within the CMMS / maintenance system.
- Support the onboarding and technical induction of new Engineers joining the Distribution Centre.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance, coaching and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
- Assist Engineers with breakdowns, fault finding and repairs when required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and 5S within the engineering stores.
Educational Qualifications – Essential
(Training, Professional Memberships, Accreditations)
- NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering
- CMMS / Maintenance System experience
- IOSH Managing Safely
Educational Qualifications – Desirable
(Training, Professional Memberships, Accreditations)
- Excel skills (VLOOKUP and PivotTables desirable)
- Experience using digital stock management tools
- Ability to analyse stock usage and optimise reorder levels
- Experience applying Lean / 5S methodologies within engineering stores
Experience, Knowledge & Expertise – Essential
- Strong mechanical or electrical understanding
- Ability to work safely and follow engineering procedures
- Good communication skills with the confidence to train and support others
- Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Understanding of:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Engineering spares management
- Asset lifecycle and critical spare identification
Experience, Knowledge & Expertise – Desirable
- Previous engineering experience within a distribution centre, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- Experience handling stock, ordering processes, or engineering storeroom management
- Experience supporting engineering teams in a distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or FMCG environment
Knowledge of:
- Stock control processes
- Safety stock levels
- Goods‑in, issuing parts and returns processes
