The Role
As a WES Expert, you will play a critical role in the operation and optimisation of our WES platform at the SFC. You’ll be responsible for ensuring seamless communication between the Warehouse Management System (WMS), Warehouse Control System (WCS), and all automated equipment and software, helping to maintain operational uptime in a fast-paced, 24/7 fulfilment environment.
This role will see you acting as the first point of contact for WMS and WES-related issues, working closely with internal teams, system suppliers (e.g., Modern Logic), and stakeholders to resolve incidents, identify improvements, and support ongoing system enhancements.
Your Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot WES, WMS, and WCS systems and message flows
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues across GTP, Ship Sorters, and Pack Benches
- Act as the on-site systems lead for high-severity (P1) issues, ensuring swift resolution and minimal disruption
- Provide real-time technical support for SFC operations during shifts, including weekends and nights
- Work with SCADA systems and WES dashboards to ensure continuous system performance
- Collaborate with third-party suppliers (e.g., Modern Logic) on escalations, testing, and deployments
- Contribute to system upgrades, configuration changes, and new functionality rollouts
- Maintain a working knowledge of PLC-operated automation systems
- Track recurring issues, identify trends, and suggest process or system improvements
- Support cross-functional project teams in the deployment of new systems or process enhancements
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- 2–4 years’ experience in a systems support or operational technology role within warehousing, manufacturing, or distribution
- Hands-on experience with WMS, WES, and WCS platforms
- Familiarity with SCADA and automation dashboard systems
- Basic understanding of PLC-operated automation equipment
- Comfortable with IT systems including hardware, software, and networks
- Working knowledge of SQL and reporting tools
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Able to remain calm and solution-focused in a high-pressure, live operations environment
