EXPEREINCED VET WITH A SURGICAL BIAS – Burgess Hill (20 mins from Brighton and Haywards Heath)

Experienced veterinary surgeon with an operating bias. Salary £60,0000 - £85,000. Our much-loved senior surgeon is leaving us to do a sabbatical overseas, and we need an equally fabulous person to take her place. The role would be either for a 6-month period, or even better a long-term position as we have a high surgical case load and are continuing to grow.

Our Facilities:

Work in a purpose-built, recently renovated practice equipped with all the mod-cons, including digital X-ray, dental radiography, ultrasonography, in-house laboratory facilities, and separate wards for dogs, cats, and isolation cases. With a loyal client base and approximately 35% insured clients, you’ll have the resources to provide the highest standard of care.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is passionate about going above and beyond in their role. A candidate who is confident both is soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery would be ideal. Someone who can help to develop laparoscopy within the practice, as we currently have an outside supplier provide this for us. We have several younger vets either starting or keen to start their surgery or ECC certificates, so a person keen to teach the team and share knowledge would be great! Someone who can bring with them new ideas and improvements. A person who can work with our highly experienced nurses to run through a full ops list in an efficient and enjoyable manner for everyone.  The full-time position would involve some days of consulting so even if medicine is not your strong point, a lovely client manner and ability to deal most sick patients is a must. Most importantly we are looking for an individual who cares deeply for their patients, wants to do the best for their clients and who works well within a team.  

Work-Life Balance:

We understand the importance of flexibility and are open to tailoring hours to fit your lifestyle. While our ideal candidate would commit to 40 hours per week, we’re happy to discuss more part-time options. Typical operating shifts are 8am – 6pm. Each vet does one late consulting shift a week which is 10-8pm and we would ask for 1 weekend (Sat 9-6 (part day consulting), Sun 10-4) a month. There are no OOH responsibilities.
