Job Type:  Fixed Term

Handforth, CHE, SK9 3RN

Description:

Pets at Home is delivering one of the largest transformations across UK veterinary practices with the rollout of our new Practice Management System, Provet. With over 30 practices already live and 440 more to transition by June 2027, we’re now looking for a Darwin Practice Readiness & Change Lead to play a critical role in ensuring each practice is fully prepared for a successful go‑live.

This role sits at the heart of the Darwin programme and is essential to enabling smooth deployment at pace — while protecting quality, confidence and engagement across the practice network.

About the Role

As the Darwin Practice Readiness & Change Lead, you’ll own the end‑to‑end practice readiness approach for the programme. You’ll ensure every practice moves through a structured readiness journey — supported by clear materials, checkpoints, communications and engagement — so that training, hardware and technical teams can deliver successfully.

You’ll be the primary interface between the programme and our Business Development Partners (BDPs) and Regional Directors, working closely with them to track progress, surface risks early and support practices through change.

This is a highly visible role requiring strong stakeholder engagement, structured thinking and the confidence to operate in a fast‑moving delivery environment as the programme scales from 4 to 12 practice go‑lives per week.

The role is hybrid (2 days per week in the office) and is a fixed‑term opportunity through to June 2027.

What you’ll do

  • Own and continuously improve the practice readiness framework, materials and collateral used to prepare practices for migration.

  • Track readiness milestones across practices, highlighting risks or issues that could impact go‑live timelines.

  • Act as the main programme contact for BDPs and Regional Directors, providing regular updates and guidance.

  • Lead Darwin updates at National Ops calls and host regular drop‑in sessions for BDPs.

  • Represent practice readiness at weekly Deployment Management Group and Air Traffic Control (ATC) forums.

  • Co‑lead ATC activity, helping plan rollout waves and ensuring practices are suitable and prepared for deployment.

  • Coordinate closely with training, hardware and implementation teams to align readiness with delivery plans.

  • Draft and manage Darwin communications to practices and stakeholders, including intranet and newsletter updates.

  • Support practices during go‑live where needed, including on‑site presence on occasion.

  • Contribute to the evolution of the readiness model for more complex practices, including large and 24x7 sites.

About You

This role will suit someone comfortable operating at scale, bringing structure to complexity and working with a wide range of stakeholders.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong experience in change delivery, business readiness, implementation or programme support roles.

  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and field‑based teams.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to track progress across many parallel workstreams.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, polished materials.

  • A proactive, solutions‑orientated mindset and ability to spot issues early.

  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced, evolving programme environment.

Experience in healthcare, veterinary, retail or multi‑site operational environments would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Inclusion

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take inspiration from pets and value difference in all its forms. Our ambition is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and we encourage everyone to apply — even if your experience doesn’t perfectly align, if you believe you can make a meaningful contribution, we’d love to hear from you.
