Description: 

We are looking for a motivated individual who ideally has some experience in veterinary practice to join our team as an Animal Nursing Assistant to fill a very unique position within the referral centre at our Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Services Clinic at Barnsley Vets4pets.  

The role involves working alongside our advanced surgical veterinary surgeons and nurses, within our fast-pace and ever growing referral centre, to support the care given and surrounding responsibilities for surgical patients. The role also includes helping to maintain a clean, clinical environment at all times, and cleaning the specialist surgical equipment.  

There is zero progression from this role due to its unique demands, and we hope to find an enthusiastic candidate who will embrace the responsibility of this position.

Some experience in veterinary practice is preferred.

The role will suit somebody that can work well within a team, but is self motivated, and attention to detail is absolutely crucial.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Assist the advanced surgical team
  • Admitting surgical patients  
  • Assisting with clinical note writing  
  • Discharging surgical day patients  
  • Providing excellent client service and communication. This includes telephone handling.
  • Assisting patient recoveries when required following advanced surgical procedures such as: orthopaedic, major soft tissue, endoscopic or laparoscopic surgery
  • Use the correct procedures to clean and maintain the specialist surgical equipment, prep area and theatre areas
  • Follow infection control procedures to maintain a clean, clinical working environment at hospital standard.

Hours:  
Part-time working 7.30am-4.30pm, Monday - Wednesday.
