Registered Veterinary Nurse

We are delighted to invite applications for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team on a maternity cover basis at Dorchester Vets for Pets.

About Us

We are a close-knit and experienced team consisting of:

• 4 Veterinary Surgeons with a broad range of experience, from 9+ years qualified to those currently progressing through the GDP programme
• 6 experienced RVNs with 5–10+ years in practice
• 5 Front of House team members dedicated to providing outstanding client care 

We pride ourselves on being a supportive and forward-thinking team, always looking to enhance our services while encouraging continuous learning and development.

Our team members hold a variety of additional qualifications and responsibilities, including clinical coaching, mental health first aid, RPS status, first aid training, and certifications in exotics.

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding position offering exposure to a diverse caseload, including:

• Dogs, cats, and small animals
• Birds, including birds of prey
• Exotics and ornamental fish 

We operate at a first-opinion level, with visiting orthopaedic specialists performing procedures on-site. More advanced diagnostics, such as MRI and CT, are referred.

With a consistent and manageable caseload, you’ll have the time to provide high-quality care without feeling rushed ensuring the best outcomes for both patients and clients.

Facilities

Our modern, well-equipped practice includes:

• Operating theatre
• Digital x-ray and ultrasound
• In-house laboratory
• Ventilator and diathermy equipment
• Blood pressure monitoring 

We also have exciting plans to rebrand and expand the practice towards the end of 2026.

Working Hours & Salary

• Maternity Cover Position
• Approximately 30 hours per week (flexible for the right candidate)
• No out-of-hours work
• 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9:00am–1:00pm)
• Weekday opening hours: 9:00am–7:00pm
• Salary: £16.00 per hour
