We’re a welcoming, busy small animal practice based in Old Kent Road, London, and we’re looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our lovely team. If you enjoy hands-on nursing, working alongside supportive colleagues and building great relationships with clients and their pets, we’d love to hear from you.

We are a locally owned practice based on the Cantium Retail Park with a wonderfully loyal client base and approximately 60% of these are insured. Our fantastic team, led by Practice Owner and Vet Rachel Maier, is made up of 4 Vets, 3 RVN's, 1 SVN, 2 VCA’s and 5 CCA’s.

We are a multi-talented team that together create a safe and welcoming environment for our clients, to provide them with the best possible care. We run advanced nurse-led appointments including behavioural, dental, weight, pain management, arthritis, diabetes and new puppy/kitten appointments. Our veterinary team have also undertaken advanced training to allow us to perform orthopaedic surgery in our practice. And we’re also able to provide surgical procedures involving the soft tissues such as ears and skin.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting vets during consultations and surgeries
  • Schedule 3 procedures including injections, medications, fluid therapy and first aid as directed
  • Assisting with anaesthesia and post-operative care
  • Taking x-rays and assisting with other diagnostic procedures
  • Running nurse clinics and advising clients
  • Providing excellent inpatient care including some intensive care, pain scoring and ensuring appropriate enrichment regimes for longer stay patients
  • Dispensing drugs in accordance with professional guidelines and surgery rules
  • Maintaining up to date and accurate clinical records

A dedicated reception team are employed at the surgery, but excellent customer service skills are required for dealing with client queries and performing nurse consultations. You will work closely with the Practice Owner and other senior members of the team to ensure the smooth day to day running of the practice and will proactively contribute to the continued development and success of the practice and team.

This is a full-time position with just 1 in 4 Saturdays working 9am-6pm and no OOHs.  

About you:

We welcome applications from experienced RVNs or confident newly qualified veterinary nurses who are comfortable working across all areas in practice.

Nurses are the heart of our practice and perform an integral clinical role in caring for our patients. You’ll have great communication and organisation skills and take pride in working to a high standard. They key to your success will be your ability to embrace all aspects of the Veterinary Nurse role, delivering excellent patient and client care.
