Under the leadership of Head Vet Jonathan Niccol, who has grown the practice over 15 years into one of the most progressive in the region, we invest seriously in the tools, the technology, and the people that keep us ahead.

On the equipment side, we mean it: a Siemens 64-slice CT scanner on-site (available 7 days a week, with same-day reporting where needed), advanced ultrasound covering full abdominal imaging, POCUS/FAST scanning and echocardiography, and a full flexible and rigid endoscopy suite. Surgically, we offer a genuinely broad caseload — orthopaedics including TPLO, CCWO, TTA, fracture repairs and arthroscopy; laparoscopic procedures such as ovariectomy, gastropexy and organ biopsies; laser surgery for everything from mass removals to ocular and nasal work; and complex soft tissue cases like TECA, portosystemic shunt closures and lung lobectomies. We also use platelet-rich plasma and stem cell therapy as part of our orthopaedic offering.

For a nurse, that translates into real day-to-day variety: anaesthesia and monitoring across advanced imaging and complex surgery, hands-on experience with equipment many practices only ever refer out for, and the chance to build genuinely advanced perioperative and diagnostic skills without leaving Worcester. We're also an accredited training practice, which means learning and development aren't just perks here. They're part of who we are.

LIFE AT WORCESTER

We're a team of 30 people, and we genuinely like each other. We socialise, we celebrate, and we have a running list of clubs — book club, movie club, craft club, and more. If you like the idea of being part of a team in the fullest sense of the word, you'll fit right in here.

We work 8-hour shifts with a paid lunch break and paid overtime — rare in veterinary, and something we're proud of. All roles involve 1 in 3 weekends (we're open 7 days a week), and we think that's a fair and sustainable way to work.

THE ROLE

This one's for a nurse who's ready for more. You've got a few years of registered experience under your belt, you're confident running your own cases, and you're starting to ask “what's next?” — this is that next step.

As a Senior Veterinary Nurse, you'll take on greater clinical responsibility across our full range of cases and cutting-edge equipment, and you'll be a go-to for newly qualified and student nurses coming through the practice — supporting their development day to day, without the full people-management remit of a deputy or head nurse. Think of this as the platform, not the destination: a role that builds your clinical authority and mentoring experience, and positions you clearly for what comes next.

What that “next” looks like is up to you. Some of our senior nurses use this role to build the case, confidence, and track record needed to step up into a deputy or head nurse position when the opportunity arises. Others use it to specialise — working towards certificates and advanced qualifications to become a highly qualified specialist nurse in a particular field. Either way, we'll build your development plan around the direction you want to take, and back it with real CPD support.

A registered veterinary nurse with solid post-registration experience, who's confident and capable in their own clinical work and ready to start supporting and mentoring others. You'll bring clinical strength and a calm head under pressure, along with a clear sense of ambition — whether that's toward practice leadership or clinical specialism — even if you're not yet sure which. Above all, you'll take genuine pride in the quality of care you give and the standards you help set for the team around you.
