Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse - Ward Nurse

Vets for Pets Romford is looking for an experienced RVN with previous senior-level experience to join our team as Senior Ward Nurse.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, organised and compassionate nurse to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our inpatient ward, working alongside an additional Ward Nurse to ensure our patients receive consistently high-quality care.
The Role
This is a Full Time role working Monday to Friday each week (7:30am to 4pm).
As Senior Ward Nurse, you will:
- Oversee the daily running of the ward and support the Ward Nurse.
- Ensure every patient receives a full clinical check, with an appropriate plan of care for the day.
- Ensure clinical notes and charges are completed accurately and promptly.
- Be actively involved in the care of critically ill patients.
- Attend and contribute to AM and PM handovers, ensuring excellent continuity of care between day and night teams.
- Ensure patients are kept clean, comfortable and their wellbeing is prioritised.
- Ensure reception receives accurate patient lists so clients can be kept regularly updated.
- Maintain excellent communication with clients regarding their pet's progress.
- Work closely with the OOH/night team to ensure patients are transferred back appropriately, with all relevant notes completed.
- Implement new protocols and initiatives to improve patient care and clinical standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised and high-standard ward.
- Lead the induction and training of VCAs and oversee completion of delegated tasks.
- Prepare patients safely and effectively for discharge.
About You
We are looking for an RVN who:
- Has previous experience in a senior nursing or leadership role.
- Has strong inpatient and critical patient care experience.
- Is confident prioritising and managing a busy ward.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Is confident delegating and supporting other team members.
- Takes pride in delivering high standards of patient care.
- Is proactive and passionate about improving clinical standards.
- Can lead by example and work collaboratively with the wider practice team.
