Veterinary Care Assistant
Handforth, HAM, SK9 3RN
Are you looking to start your journey to becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse? We might have the role for you.
Our Practice
We are purpose built, with three consult rooms, a spacious theatre, separate dog and cat ward, a well-equipped isolation unit and a separate dental and x-ray room. We have the usual in-house laboratory and ultrasound, and have access to endoscopy.
We are a team of 4 RVNs and one RVN/Practice Owner, and currently 1 Veterinary Care Assistant. We have an amazing team of 4 receptionists, and all support a team of 3 brilliant vets.
The Role
As a Veterinary Care Assistant, your day will be varied. Responsibilities include maintaining stock levels, keeping the practice to a high standard of cleanliness, support the nurses with inpatient care, and running some VCA clinics. You will also be trained in reception duties and will be expected to complete some shifts on reception supporting our clients and patients, as needed. The right candidate will have the opportunity to train as a Registered Veterinary Nurse after one year of service, fully funded.
The role is for 33 hours per week, with a mix of early starts and late finishes, supporting the nursing team in opening and closing the practice.
Our weekend rota is 1 in 4 Saturdays, with no Sundays. We decided to close on Sundays a few years ago, to provide our team with a dedicated day of rest, and have no immediate plans to reopen Sundays.
Our OOH is covered by an external provider, so there are no OOH shifts.
In return we offer
- 33 hours per week, spread over 4 weekdays, and 1 in 4 Saturdays.
- CPD allowance to support growth in areas you are interested in.
- Chance to train as an RVN.
- An additional paid day off on your birthday
- An additional 1 week of holiday accrued, after 2 years of service
- Staff pet care discount, and immediate family discount
- Pets at Home and other third party discounts
Do you want to work somewhere that puts the team first, genuinely cares about doing things well and makes space for proper client conversations? If so, we would love to hear from you. Please send your CV and covering letter to melanie.graham@vetsforpets.com.
