Veterinary Care Assistant

We are seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) to join our busy veterinary practice and assist our vets and nurses in the provision of high-quality care to our patients. The ideal candidate for us will have a love for animals, enjoy caring for them while ensuring their comfort while in practice and be able to work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience in a VCA role or other position caring for animals is advantageous but not essential by any means.
This is a part-time role working 2 -3 days a week (17 – 25.5 hours). There are no weekends and no out of hours requirements.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring patient’s comfort and wellbeing while in practice
- Cleaning kennels, treatment areas, and equipment to ensure a hygienic environment
- Laundering bedding and uniforms
- Assisting in the preparation of patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Assisting with safely restraining animals during consultations and procedures where required
- Assisting with setting up equipment and treatment areas
- Assisting with patient admissions and discharges
- Supporting the wider team with other tasks as and when required
Requirements
- Genuine interest in animal health and welfare
- Ability to work well within a team environment
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and their owners
- Excellent animal handling skills
- Attention to detail
- Good communication and organisational skills
- High standards of cleanliness and professionalism.
- A valid right to work in the UK is essential
