We’re Hiring! Veterinary Surgeons – Leeds Colton
Full-time or part-time | No out-of-hours | 1 in 4 weekends | Flexible hours
Are you looking for just another veterinary job, or are you looking for something that little bit better?
Well… we think we might be.
We’re a family-run veterinary practice with a genuine family feel to our teams. Based in North-East Leeds, on the edge of Yorkshire’s Golden Triangle, we’re a thriving, efficient and forward-thinking practice where our values may be old-fashioned — but our team certainly aren’t!
We have 4 partners working alongside the team, bringing more than 85 years of combined veterinary experience, supported by 4 vets, 11 nurses (8 RVNs and 3 SVNs), 2 VCAs, 4 receptionists and a full-time practice manager.
We’re a close-knit team where everyone is encouraged to have an opinion, contribute ideas and enjoy genuine clinical freedom.
So, what makes us a little bit better?
A little bit better organised.
We understand that being a great vet is only one part of having a great life. That’s why we offer flexible working from 20 to 40 hours per week, a regular day off each week, 1 in 4 weekends and no on-call. And because our rota is already planned through to the end of 2027, you’ll know where you stand well in advance — giving you the freedom to properly plan your life outside of work too.
A little bit more flexible.
We’re interested in the whole package, not just a salary figure. We’ll take the time to understand what’s important to you—whether that’s salary, holidays, working hours, CPD or something else—and work with you to create a package that fits your experience, aspirations and lifestyle. We’re open to different ways of supporting you, because we know that a great job is about more than just salary.
For transparency, you can expect £40,000–£50,000 if you’re up to five years qualified, with salaries of up to £65,000 for recent certificate holders taking on additional responsibilities.
A little bit more friendly.
Don’t just take our word for it — ask our existing team. Or have a look at our reviews on Facebook, Google or VetHelpDirect. We’re proud of the environment we’ve created and, importantly, we want you to enjoy coming to work.
A little bit more conscientious.
We protect scheduled lunch breaks, finish consultations 45 minutes before closing, and build in reserved consultation breaks so you have time to catch up on messages, review laboratory results and deal with the inevitable admin. We believe you should be able to finish your day feeling like you’ve actually finished your day — not still thinking about everything you didn’t get done. Most importantly, we want you to leave on time.
A little bit better at supporting you.
With more than 85 years of veterinary experience between our four partners, alongside a full-time practice manager and an experienced clinical team, you’ll be surrounded by a wealth of knowledge and support. Between us, we’ve seen most things that practice can throw at you, and we understand both the challenges and the rewards that come with being a vet. You’ll have an experienced team around you to learn from, bounce ideas off and rely on when you need it.
A little bit more adventurous.
You’ll be joining a team of exceptional surgeons and medics, including certificate holders in surgery, cardiology and dermatology, meaning referral is minimal and you can retain ownership of your cases from initial work-up through to treatment and follow-up. We carry out a wide range of advanced work in-house, including BOAS surgery, orthopaedics and cardiac work-ups, with further expertise developing within the team through vets studying towards behavioural certificates.
If you’re someone who enjoys developing your skills, getting to the bottom of cases and seeing them through, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to do that here. We’re well equipped to support you, with endoscopy, ultrasound, digital and dental radiography, as well as AI cytology, all available within the practice. It’s a great environment to build your confidence, expand your clinical skills and make the most of the cases that come through the door.
And, of course…
We’re a little bit excited to meet you.
If you’re looking for somewhere that feels more like a team than just another workplace, we’d love to hear from you.
