About the Practice

Our standalone practice is truly unique, set within a beautifully converted former fire station. The result is a bright, spacious, and modern working environment, thoughtfully designed to support both exceptional clinical care and colleague wellbeing.

We’re fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, allowing you the time, space, and tools to work up cases properly and practice high-quality medicine locally. Over the years, we’ve built a loyal and supportive client base, and as the practice continues to grow, there’s significant opportunity for further development and innovation.

Location & Lifestyle

Hemsworth is a thriving market town with excellent transport connections. The practice is just a short walk from the bus station, with routes across Barnsley, Wakefield, Pontefract, and Doncaster. With easy access to the M1 and A1, cities such as Leeds, Sheffield, and Manchester are all within comfortable reach, ideal if you enjoy balancing countryside living with city convenience.

In your downtime, there’s plenty to explore. The Role

This role is designed to be fully flexible, with options including:

• Full-time (40 hours per week)
• Part-time (minimum 24 hours per week)
• Flexible working patterns to suit your lifestyle

Weekends are shared fairly across the team, and there are no out-of-hours requirements, supporting a healthy and sustainable work–life balance.

We’re looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who brings:

• Experience in small animal general practice
• Confidence with sole charge when required
• Strong communication and people skills
• A collaborative mindset and passion for gold-standard patient care
