Frontend Developer

At Pets at Home, we’re building modern digital experiences that make life better for pets and the people who love them. As a Frontend Developer, you’ll be at the heart of this, creating fast, accessible and beautifully crafted web applications using the latest technologies.

The role offers hybrid working from our Support Office in Handforth, Cheshire.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing, building and optimising modern web applications using React, TypeScript & Next.js
• Delivering high-quality, accessible UI experiences that delight our customers
• Owning frontend performance and continuously improving speed and reliability
• Writing and maintaining unit and end-to-end tests (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress/Playwright)
• Collaborating closely with Product, Design and Backend teams to deliver seamless features
• Contributing to API design and integration strategies
• Taking part in code reviews, driving quality and shared best practice
• Proactively identifying risks and supporting smooth delivery within Agile squads

What you’ll bring

• Experience in frontend development
• Strong skills in TypeScript, React and Next.js
• Solid understanding of modern frontend architecture (SSR, SSG, routing, performance)
• Experience with testing frameworks and end-to-end testing tools
• Familiarity with CI/CD, version control and best engineering practices
• A passion for accessible, inclusive design
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Nice to have

• Experience with Storybook, Figma and reusable component design (Atomic Design)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure) or Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
• Understanding of REST APIs and backend integration
